This course will greatly benefit painters and drawers who could do with re-energising their approach through a challenging and stimulating course and for those interested in portraiture wanting to explore a range of ways of seeing and depicting the face.

Over the period of course you will be working on one painting, building in layers and using techniques that require extended drying times. You will also be making more immediate paintings, exploring other techniques which do not require long drying times.

Art, Kundalini Yoga and delicious wholesome homemade food. All combined to energize the mind, nourish the body and enrich the spirit.
Saturday, 6th August 2016 10am – 5pm
Morning session 10:00-13:00. Kundalini Yoga
When health and happiness levels are high, your aura – the protective electromagnetic field surrounding your body – expands. On a good day, it can radiate as far as 9ft (2.7m) from your body. When it’s big and bright, people sense you coming before you actually arrive, and you definitely don’t get bumped around in Oxford Circus on a Saturday! In this kundalini yoga workshop, we’ll work on clearing, strengthening and expanding our aura to encourage you to GO REALLY BIG in the afternoon’s art class.
Lunch 13:00-14:00 (delicious vegetarian homemade lunch. vegan or G/F available – please specify at time of booking)
Afternoon session 14:00-17:00. ART. Expand your drawing – the body within and without.
Make LARGE scale drawings! Working on a piece of paper the size of the body, you will use space and free movement to expand and develop your own gestural marks and line. Through a range of drawing techniques and mark making you will experience an exciting and energetic approach to the subject. We will make images of the body, abstract from these images and explore drawing’s potential to represent feelings and sensations. In our exploration of the body as a boundary and as boundless (closed and open drawing) we will refer to the morning yoga session as a starting point.
Materials supplied: a variety of art materials (oil pastels, soft pastels, charcoal) paper. Please feel free to bring any of your own drawing materials and sketchbooks.
***There will be a short break of 10-15min in the morning and afternoon for coffee and tea (provided by us)***
